Pencil Portrait Mastery Review

Pencil Portrait Mastery Review

If you have been thinking of buying Christopher Sia's Realistic Pencil Portrait Mastery home study course, then read on because Christopher has opened up the entire course to me so that I can take a look at the course and review it for you.

I will be showing you exactly what you get when you purchase the course as well give you my thoughts on the course.

When you purchase the course, you receive your own username and login which you will use to log in to the Realistic Pencil Portrait Mastery private members only section of the site. The course itself is basically a set of downloadable pdf documents which you then download onto your computer. This means the course is yours to keep.

Once you have downloaded the files you can either open them and work directly off the computer screen or you can print them out and turn them into a manual.

( 5 dersten oluşur )
The basic course consists of 5 lessons :

Lesson #1: How To Draw A Realistic Eye Like A Master
Lesson #2: How To Draw A Realistic Nose Like A Master
Lesson #3: How To Draw Realistic Mouth And Teeth Like A Master
Lesson #4: How To Draw A Realistic Ear Like A Master
Lesson #5: How To Draw Realistic Hair Like A Master

Then there are also some bonuses that come with this pencil portrait drawing course. The first is a twelve week lesson plan, second is a set of mind maps, third is a collection of reference pictures and lastly is life time updates on any new versions / revisions of the Realistic Pencil Portrait Mastery pencil drawing course.

When you get the course I suggest that you start with the 12 week portrait drawing lesson plan. The first few weeks of the plan can actually be completed in a few days as the lessons are quick exercises, but essential if you want to learn how to draw portraits successfully. Especially if you have never drawn before.

Here is what these exercises consist of :

1st Week: Draw A Pencil Portrait
2nd Week:Shading Method
3rd Week: The Correct Way Of Drawing Eyelashes
4th Week: Shading In Graduated Tone
5th Week: Exercising Your Brain
6th Week: Shading In Graduated Tone (Part 2)

After that start with lesson 1 - How to draw a realistic eye like a master. Here is an idea of what the lessons look like (this is just 8 of the 54 pages that explain how to draw the eye step by step..

As you can see Christopher has put in a lot of effort to break down a complex subject into bite sized steps. He then explains to you exactly how to do each step. Each step has multiple photos added to the manual so you are never left wondering what next or how did he do that - a common problem when learning how to draw from a book.

Then move on to the lessons on how to draw the nose, mouth, teeth, ear and hair. Once you have completed all 5 of the main lessons, then go back to the 12 week lesson plan and complete weeks 7 to 12 :

7th Week: Texture Of Lips (Drawing What You Can See)
8th Week: Eye's Wrinkles (Observe The Tones)
9th Week: Short Blonde Hair Technique (Observe The Tones Part 2)
10th Week: Wavy Blonde Hair Technique (Observe The Tones Part 3)
11th Week: Circulism Shading Technique

12th Week: Draw A Realistic Pencil Portrait

These lessons build and strengthen what you have learnt during the course.

Once you have completed the course and are busy drawing your own portraits, then use the mind maps for each component of the face to remind you of the order and the steps you will need to take to complete the drawing.

My Thoughts :

Christopher has put in a lot of effort into the course and done a sterling job of explaining it. There are enough high resolution reference photos in the bonus package to keep you drawing for a long time. The mind maps are an excellent idea as they give you a process to follow which makes it a lot easier when drawing a complex subject such as the face.

I do believe the course is well worth the money ($47), even with the missing components. The volume and quality of the information is excellent, so you will not feel you have wasted your money.

Our Bonus :

In order to get this course more complete I have sat down and designed 5 new lessons that can be added to this course. These Bonus Lessons are :

Bonus Lesson 1 : How to draw the forehead like a master
Bonus Lesson 2 : How to draw cheeks like a master
Bonus Lesson 3 : How to draw the chin like a master
Bonus Lesson 4 : How to draw the neck like a master
Bonus Lesson 5 : Mystery module - You'll just have to wait and see what this awesome module is all about

In other words we have added an extra 5 lessons onto the existing 5 Realistic Pencil Portrait Mastery lessons!!!
